SECRETARY REPORT

Blight property update: Charles Snyder has been in contact with Jim Ball about getting dumpster prices to get his property clean up.

Lori, Wykoff Run house, sent me an email telling me that she got a permit to tear down the old house and is working on quotes to get it cleaned up.

Owner of the trailer on Anglers Path Way has been working out of town and said he is planning on coming to work on cleaning the rest of the trailer up.

Jim Howard mentioned that Bob (who works at the Saloon as  the cook hasn’t mowed his lawn and it is super high and would like a letter sent to him)

Grove Township is not eligible for CDBG money due to the income base of the population.  If we had blighted property that was turned over to the Township, then we could get money from CDBG to clean it up.

Todd told me his office inspected the road, and the Center for dirt and gravel and low volume roads was there and they are fine with everything that was done Jericho Road, and if anyone has any questions they can call him.  It was mentioned there is about a 2 inch drop in the road that needs brought up to road surface level.

The dumpster cost is $495.00, not the $450.00 stated in the letter. After further discussion, the Township decided to closely review trash-handling costs and determine whether customer rates will need to increase.

ROADMASTER REPORT

On June 11, 2025, a motion was proposed and passed to purchase a mower for the skid steer. Jim Howard picked one up recently and tested it while mowing roadsides on Lick Island and part of Railroad Street. He reported that it works well and would be worth purchasing, so it was agreed to move forward with the purchase. Robert Bushor opposed the purchase.

The garage doors are now working properly.

PARK REPORT

Next Weekend is the Fun Friday so we need to make sure the grass is mowed and trimmed.  Robert cleaned up the trash and replaced trash bags this week at the park.  Jim Howard stated he would like to see the Park mowed and trimmed every week.  He also noted that the sign needs to be painted, Brandie suggested looking into a new sign.

BUSINESS

A motion was made by Robert Bushor and seconded by Melvin Kehl to pay bills as presented.  Motion carried unanimously.

Next regular meeting will be held on July 8,2026, starting at 5:00 at Grove Township building.

Public Comment

Elizabeth just wanted to mention the Fun Friday event and making sure the park looked good, but we had already discussed it.

Jim Howard mentioned we should get a refrigerator for the kitchen at the park.  Brandie had found a few but the cost was crazy, she looked at Lowes’s and they found one that was $549.99.  Jim Howard made a motion to purchase the refrigerator from Lowe’s and Melvin Kehl seconded it.  All in favor, motion carried unanimously.

Dale asked whether Grove Township plows all of Railroad Street and, if so, whether Gibson Township is charged for its half. Melvin confirmed that Grove Township does plow the road and does not charge Gibson. Dale then asked why Gibson Township swept only its half of Railroad Street and did not sweep Grove Township’s half at no cost in exchange for the plowing. The Township could not answer and advised him to contact Gibson Township.

The motion was made by Robert Bushor and seconded by Jim Howard to adjourn the June 10, 2026, meeting at 5:50. Motion was carried unanimously.
